Yeah I use FL Studio It's quite easy to learn and there are lots of free tutorials around. Reason is also good. I suggest you download demos of both (or maybe some other) and try them on your own and see which one works better for you

A midi keyboard is really helpful for creating melodies. As for software I would recommend some virtual instruments (VST) that will allow you to create some cool sounds. There are many great VST for trance music: Vanguard, Nexus, Massive, Absynth, Blue, Albino, V-Station, z3ta+, and many many more. Some of them are quite expensive, so "try before buy" is a good idea There are also hardware synths, but I don't know much about them As for drum kits (kick drums, hi-hats, snares, crashes etc) I would recommend Vengeance - www.vengeance-sound.comHope this helped you Nige

What about the FL Studio Producer Edition? The main difference seems to be the lack of some extra samples. And if you want samples, you should get a sample pack from Vengeance (which are samples specifically for Trance music, I'm not even sure what kind of samples come with the XXL Edition of FL Studio...)

ive gone with fl studio 8 producers edition and im still scratching my head about sample packs, there is so many lol, vengeance essential club vol1 looks great but they stopped making it,anybody know what the 2nd one is like??? seems to be more breakbeat and techno on the write ups.
